Tarangire is Tanzania’s fifth-largest national park on the edge of the Great Rift Valley. The landscape consists of low hills with sparse acacia forests, huge baobab trees, and savannah grasslands. The Tarangire River is the park’s main water source and is ideal for wildlife viewing of all kinds. Herds of wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, zebra, giraffe, hippos, and many antelopes are waiting to be photographed. With luck and good eyes, you might even get the well-camouflaged leopard in front of your lens.
Today we receive and welcome you personally at Kilimanjaro Airport. Over a morning coffee, we will discuss travel planning and answer your questions. The journey to Tarangire takes about 2 hours via well-developed roads through the Maasai area and several smaller villages.
Game drive for the rest of the day. At lunchtime, we will head for a picnic area so that you can fortify yourself from your hot lunch. But don’t let the cute monkeys steal your food while you admire the impressive landscape.
Early evening arrival at your lodge in Karatu.
For a well-deserved sundowner and dinner. If the sky is cloudless, you will see the starry sky of Africa and “The Southern Cross”.

ResetThe crater is the main attraction of the Ngorongoro Nature Reserve and is often referred to as the “eighth wonder of the world”. It is 610 meters deep and covers an area of about 260 square kilometers. The crater basin is the habitat of about 30,000 animals all year round. These include the so-called Big Five (lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhinoceros) and many other species, except giraffes. It is also known as the largest zoo in the world.
After an early breakfast, we make our way to the crater. After a short journey, we reach the still foggy, somewhat mystical Ngorongoro Highlands and drive down to the crater floor.
Today you will spend marveling at the impressive landscape and looking out for the Big Five.
After a lunch break at Lake Magadi, a soda lake in the crater, during which you will enjoy a warm meal and watch the flamingos on the shore foraging, we will continue the game drive.
In the late afternoon, you will return to your Karatu lodge.

ResetThe park is a habitat for elephants, lions, leopards, zebras, wildebeests, and more than 400 species of birds. Among them are pink flamingos, which can be seen in large numbers on the lakeshore. A special attraction is tree-climbing lions; a unique phenomenon that can only be observed in this park. However, you will find that wildlife is less present in the park than in other national parks in the north of the country. This is where your ability to observe, search, and find is required. With a little spirit of discovery, you can spot the park’s animals in the green of the forests.
After a relaxed breakfast, we visit the Manyara National Park on your last day of the safari with its impressive landscape, which is characterized by the alkaline lake, green umbrella acacia forests, and huge, ancient baobab trees. Our guide will certainly pay you a visit to the “Hippo Pool”. Before you see the impressive natural spectacle of the hippos frolicking, you will smell that you are close to your destination. A safari is an experience for all the senses. Early afternoon return to Arusha. Your driver will ensure that you reach your connecting flight to Zanzibar or your flight back home in time.
