Your exclusive “Great Migration” private safari begins in Tarangire National Park, home to the country’s largest elephant population. The highlight of this safari is undoubtedly your visit to the Serengeti. On your way there, you will have countless opportunities for exciting wildlife, impressive nature observations, and a visit to a typical Maasai village. After an overnight stay in the Central Serengeti, we go north to the Mara area the next morning. In the dry season from June to September, up to 2 million wildebeest and about 750,000 zebras gather here on the banks of the Mara River to plunge into the floods at the risk of their lives. There is no other way to continue the long journey to the South Serengeti. During a game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater, you will then look out for the “Big Five” at the end of your safari, which you have not yet seen in front of your lens.
White beaches on the Indian Ocean, crystal clear waters with water temperatures of up to 27 degrees, a diverse range of water sports activities, including swimming with dolphins and sea turtles, and not to forget, a rich cultural heritage. Many lovers of pop music do not miss the opportunity to pay a visit to the birthplace of Freddy Mercury.

Herds of wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, zebra, giraffe, hippos, and many antelopes are waiting to be photographed by you. With a little luck and good eyes, you might even get the well-camouflaged leopard in front of your lens. After a thrilling day of safari, our guide brings you to Karatu for Dinner and overnight stay, reflecting on the day’s exciting wildlife encounters.

ResetAfter you have slept in and had breakfast, we will make our way to the Central Serengeti. The journey to the Serengeti takes place from Karatu over forested heights in the Ngorongoro Highlands. The path takes us over the edge of the Ngorongoro crater through forests that are still cloudy in the morning. We follow the crater rim to a viewpoint where you can take your first photos of the crater.
On your safari in the Serengeti, you will encounter countless wildlife. From a close-up, you wouldn’t expect. These include lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, crocodiles, herds of buffalo, wildebeest, and zebra, and a variety of different antelope and gazelle species of all sizes. From the small dik-dik to the imposing eland
A visit to a Maasai village is a cultural highlight of your safari and is as much a part of Tanzania as lions and elephants.
In the Serengeti, you will spend the night in the middle of the wilderness. In stationary and mobile tented camps, which are modeled after the style of accommodations of previous explorers. In this atmosphere, you can enjoy the comfort and service of today. Who wouldn’t think of “Out of Africa” now?

ResetThe Serengeti is a vast and impressive expanse of grasslands, savannahs, and forests that is home to one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles. The Serengeti is famous for its annual great migration, with millions of wildebeest and other herbivores crossing the plains in a steady cycle in search of fresh pastureland. It offers safari enthusiasts a front-row seat to this unique natural phenomenon. A safari in the Serengeti promises an unforgettable adventure where visitors experience the untamed beauty of the African wilderness up close.
Today we set off early for the North Serengeti to witness the unforgettable summer spectacle, the “Great Migration”. Every year, from June to September, over a million wildebeest and about 750,000 zebras gather on the banks of the Mara River on their way back to the south.

ResetThey are the bravest animals, which then plunge into the river first, despite the crocodiles lurking there. An incomparable picture and certainly the highlight of your safari to see when huge herds want to cross the river. The bravest and strongest animals are the first to dare to cross the river – knowing full well that crocodiles are waiting for them there. It is an unforgettable spectacle of any safari to experience how the huge herds fight the tides, and the crocodiles fight before they reach the opposite shore, exhausted. However, where lions and hyenas are already lying in wait.
Early in the morning, you will board your safari vehicle for the return to the Central Serengeti. Rising early for your morning game drive will be rewarded with lions and other nocturnal prey hunters that you can watch as they return from their long night of hunting. Your breakfast and lunch will be served in the bush today.

After arrival at the Ngorongoro crater rim, an optional hike takes you through vegetation areas that are unique to the Ngorongoro Highlands. Accompanied by an armed ranger, you will experience the proximity of giraffes, zebras, and elephants on foot from a different perspective than from a safari vehicle.

ResetThe Ngorongoro Nature Reserve includes very different habitats: open grasslands, dense mountain forests, bushland, and heathlands. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Tanzania. The 610-meter-deep crater basin is the habitat of about 25,000 large mammals all year round. Among them are the so-called Big Five.
Nowhere in Africa is the probability of encountering these animals greater than here. The so-called “largest zoo in the world” is also a habitat for cheetahs, hyenas, servals, zebras, gazelles, wildebeests, hippos, monkeys, and the rare black rhinoceros, as well as bird species such as crowned cranes, eagles, pelicans, ostriches, and flamingos.
After an early breakfast and a short drive, we descend into the crater. With a bit of luck, you will have the opportunity to take photos of the rare black rhinos today. However, you will look in vain for giraffes. They do not succeed in climbing up into the highlands and the crater.
After a warm lunch at Lake Magadi, we make our way to Arusha Airport. Your safari guide will ensure that you reach your connecting flight to Zanzibar on time
Day 9 to 14 – Beach holidays in Zanzibar
