Hiking from the Morum Picnic Site (also known as Morum Barrier, 3,400m) to Cathedral Point (3,872m) is a spectacular, moderate-to-challenging high-altitude day trek on the western slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. The round trip covers roughly 12 to 20 kilometers and takes about 5 to 7 hours depending on your pace and acclimatization breaks.

• The Approach: The drive from the Londorossi Gate ends at the Morum Barrier (picnic site). This is the highest point a vehicle can reach on the mountain.
• Morum to Shira Plateau: The first segment crosses the Shira Plateau. This is a gentle, gradual trek of 2 to 3 hours over relatively flat, open moorland. It offers phenomenal, close-up views of the snow-capped Kibo Peak.
