Trip Itinerary

Day 1:

Tarangire

Your safari begins as you are picked up from your Arusha lodge and journey to Tarangire National Park, carrying picnic lunches for the day. The park is a landscape of dramatic beauty, defined by ancient baobab trees and the life-sustaining Tarangire River, which attracts spectacular concentrations of wildlife, especially during the dry season. Your full-day game drive places you among the park’s famous elephant herds and offers chances to see lions, leopards resting in acacias, giraffes, buffalo, and a stunning array of birdlife.

After a day of exploration among these gentle giants and ancient trees, you’ll exit the park and travel a short distance to your first comfortable bush camp. You will spend the night at Africa Safari Manyara Escarpment Camp, a well-appointed mid-range tented camp where you can relax by the pool, enjoy dinner, and settle into the rhythm of safari life under the vast African sky.

Your game drive on the crater floor is a spectacular experience. You’ll have an excellent chance to spot the endangered black rhino, alongside large prides of lion, herds of elephant and buffalo, and thousands of flamingos on the soda lake. You’ll have the rare privilege of accompanying the men on a traditional hunt using bows and arrows, learning about their ancient techniques and unique click-based language.

In the afternoon, you’ll visit the neighboring Datoga tribe, skilled blacksmiths known for crafting tools and jewelry from recycled metals.
