After breakfast at your Arusha hotel, you will drive to the scenic Lake Manyara National Park, nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. This compact park boasts remarkable diversity, from its groundwater forests teeming with blue monkeys and baboons to the alkaline lake that attracts thousands of flamingos and other waterbirds. Your game drive will focus on searching for the park’s famous tree-climbing lions, as well as elephants, giraffes, and hippos. You will enjoy a picnic lunch in a designated area within the park. In the late afternoon, you will drive to your comfortable mountain lodge, where you can relax and enjoy the serene surroundings before dinner.
After breakfast, you embark on a scenic journey towards the legendary Serengeti National Park. The drive is an adventure in itself, climbing through the farmlands of Karatu and the lush rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area highlands, where you might spot buffalo or monkeys. Upon entering the Serengeti, you are greeted by the iconic, endless golden plains. You will arrive at your tented lodge in the central Seronera region for check-in and lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll head out for your first game drive along the life-giving Seronera River, a magnet for wildlife, returning to camp as the sun sets over the savanna.
Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the boundless wonders of the Serengeti. You may choose an unforgettable optional hot-air balloon safari at dawn, culminating with a champagne breakfast in the bush. After a morning meal at camp, your guide will lead you on a full-day game drive, navigating diverse habitats from grassy plains to rocky kopjes in search of the Big Five, cheetahs, and hyenas. You’ll return to camp for lunch and a short rest before venturing out again in the afternoon. The day concludes with a spectacular sunset drive back to your tented lodge, followed by a relaxing evening around the campfire.
After breakfast, you bid farewell to the Serengeti and travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s premier safari destinations. This natural amphitheater is teeming with over 120 mammal species, including the rare black rhino, and features a high density of predators. You will enjoy a full morning of game viewing on the crater floor, with a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. After a final afternoon of exploration, you will ascend the crater rim and begin your journey back to Arusha or directly to Kilimanjaro Airport for your departure flight.
