As the afternoon draws to a close, you’ll exit the park and travel a short distance to your first accommodation. After breakfast, you’ll journey towards the renowned Ndutu area, located in the southeastern reaches of the Serengeti ecosystem. This region is the critical stage for the Great Migration’s calving season (typically December to April). Your game drive today is focused on this phenomenal event, where you might witness thousands of wildebeest and zebra gathering, with hundreds of calves being born each day during the peak.
This abundance of vulnerable newborns creates unparalleled wildlife drama, attracting large numbers of predators. Your guide will help you spot lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas on the hunt, while other grazers like gazelles fiercely protect their young. You’ll spend the next two nights at Ndutu Kati Kati Tented Camp, your comfortable mid-range base deep in the Ndutu area, with all meals included.

Wake early for breakfast before embarking on a drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here, you will descend 600 meters into the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, a UNESCO World Heritage site often called a “Garden of Eden.” The crater’s enclosed ecosystem supports an astonishing density of wildlife, with around 30,000 large mammals roaming its grasslands, swamps, and acacia woodlands.
Your game drive is a quest for the Big Five, offering one of Africa’s best chances to see the endangered black rhino. You’ll also encounter large prides of lion, herds of elephant and buffalo, and flocks of flamingos on the soda lake. After an unforgettable exploration and a picnic lunch on the crater floor, you’ll ascend and drive to your final lodge. You will spend the night at Bougainvillea Safari Lodge, a mid-range lodge where you can enjoy a hearty dinner and share stories of the crater’s wonders.
