Today is dedicated to one of Africa’s most spectacular natural wonders. After an early breakfast, you’ll drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend the steep walls into the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, often called “Africa’s Garden of Eden,” is a self-contained ecosystem that shelters an astonishing concentration of wildlife within its 600-meter-high walls.
Your full-day guided game drive on the crater floor is a quest for the Big Five. You have an excellent chance of spotting the rare black rhino here, alongside large prides of lion, herds of elephant and buffalo, and thousands of flamingos on the soda lake. After a full day of exploration and a picnic lunch amidst breathtaking scenery, you’ll ascend the crater in the late afternoon. You will return to the comfort and familiarity of Marera Valley Lodge for a second night, reflecting on the crater’s incredible biodiversity.

The scenic transfer is a game drive in itself, taking you through the breathtaking Ngorongoro Highlands before descending onto the legendary golden grasslands of the Serengeti. The approximately 3-4 hour drive builds anticipation as the landscapes open into the iconic “endless plains.”
Upon entering the Central Serengeti (Seronera region), your wildlife viewing begins immediately.
