I am Engelbert Qorro. I was born in 1971 and raised on the slopes of the Ngorongoro highlands in a small village called Slahhamo, Karatu District, Arusha Region. My journey into the world of wildlife began with my early education at Slahhamo Primary School, which I completed in 1987. I continued my studies at Endarofta Secondary School, where I earned my O’ level secondary certificate in 1991.
In 1992, I had the privilege of working temporarily with the Frankfurt Zoological Society as a field assistant, focusing on the conservation of endangered species and conducting animal census activities. This hands-on experience ignited my passion for conservation and led to my permanent employment with Tanzania National Parks in Serengeti National Park in 1993. Over the years, I worked in various departments, including Tourism, Ecological Monitoring, Community Relations, and Veterinary Services.
In 2003, I furthered my knowledge by joining Mweka Wildlife College, where I earned a certificate in wildlife management. The same year, I married my lovely wife, Neema Philipo Mollel, and together, we are blessed with two children, Ebeneza and Mercy.
My career as a safari tour guide officially began in 2008 with Leopard Tours. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of guiding countless visitors through Tanzania’s breathtaking landscapes. Along the way, I attended specialized trainings such as Wayo Africa Guide Training, which focused on walking safaris and wildlife interpretation, as well as first aid training and wildlife management courses.
In 2013, I returned to Mweka College to pursue a diploma in wildlife management and wildlife tourism, knowing that knowledge is the key to offering even more exceptional safari experiences. After completing my studies in 2014, I joined Safari Legacy Tour Company as a safari guide, and it was during this time that the entrepreneurial spark within me came alive. In 2014, I established Jackal Adventure with a vision of providing unique and unforgettable safari experiences.
In 2018, I was honored to receive the Best Safari Guide of Tanzania Award from the Tanzania Tour Guide Awards. My passion for this work continues to grow, and in 2020, I was elected Chairman of the Northern Tanzania Safari Guide Society (NTSGS), a role I continue to hold, leading a vibrant community of over 450 members.
Between 2021 and 2023, I expanded my expertise by completing a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management and Hospitality at the Open University of Tanzania. My passion for learning and sharing the beauty of Tanzania’s wildlife has always driven me to go the extra mile for my clients, ensuring that every safari is not only an adventure but a lifelong memory.
