On this slow safari, we take our time to experience the fascinating wildlife in the unique landscape of northern Tanzania.
In Tarangire National Park, on a guided hike accompanied by an armed ranger in the habitat of these animals, in this purest form of safari, you are not just spectators, but participants in the world of African wildlife. You will rave about this proximity to the African bush for a lifetime. A game drive after dark reveals a world that would otherwise remain hidden from you. Now the nocturnal animals are venturing out of their hiding places. Observe the Serval, other African wild cats, honey badgers, and porcupines in the light of the powerful headlights on your safari vehicle. The cone of light illuminates the stage for hunters and hunted. Lions, which doze lazily in the sun during the day, now show their side as big cats and rulers of the savannahs.
On game drives in the Serengeti, you will get closer to African wildlife than in any zoo worldwide. During your early morning ride in a hot air balloon, you will experience the magical moment when the sun rises over the horizon of the Serengeti.
You will be thrilled – by your slow safari in Tarangire and Serengeti.

Tarangire National Park is famous for its concentration of elephants and giant baobab trees. This sixth-largest park in Tanzania offers landscapes and vegetation zones that are unique and make a multi-day stay in the park a special experience when it comes to wildlife viewing. The ideal place for your slow safari. With open grasslands, acacia forests, swamps, and hills, it provides habitat for lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, impalas, and many other antelope species. For bird watching, the park offers about 450 species of birds.

ResetAfter a relaxed and hearty breakfast, we set off today in the Ngorongoro Highlands. On the way there, you will have the opportunity to take a look at tomorrow’s safari destination – the Ngorongoro Crater

ResetThe crater is the main attraction of the Ngorongoro Nature Reserve and is often referred to as the “eighth wonder of the world”. It is 610 meters deep and covers an area of about 260 square kilometers. The crater basin is the habitat of about 30,000 animals all year round. These include the so-called Big Five (lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhinoceros) and many other species, except giraffes. It is also known as the largest zoo in the world. After an early breakfast, we make our way to the crater. After a short journey, we reach the still foggy, somewhat mystical Ngorongoro Highlands forest and drive to the crater floor. Today you will marvel at the impressive landscape and look out for the Big Five.
After a lunch break at Lake Magadi, a soda lake in the crater, during which you will enjoy your warm lunch and watch the flamingos on the shore foraging, we leave the crater towards Serengeti.

ResetSerengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most famous national park, with endless plains and an abundance of fauna and flora. Siringet from the Maasai language means “endless plain”. The Serengeti stretches over 14,763 km² in northern Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya. The Serengeti is the main ecosystem for the migration of the wildebeest, who migrate from the southern plains of the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Nature Reserve to the northern Masai Mara in search of grazing land and water. The Serengeti is home to predators such as cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, and lions, while hippos, crocodiles, and leopards live along the rivers. Large herds of elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, gazelles, impalas and hartebeest populate the landscape.
On their Safari in the Serengeti, you will have countless opportunities for spectacular wildlife photos. You will enjoy the magic of the Serengeti with its unique landscape and an incredible variety of African wildlife up close that you will not find in any zoo. Today you will spend the night in the heart of the Serengeti. Who wouldn’t think of “Out of Africa” now?

ResetToday begins for you before sunrise. During a spectacular ride in a hot air balloon, you will experience the magical moment when the sun rises over the Serengeti. They will glide silently over the plains. Their early rise will be rewarded with the fact that they will now see the big cats as they end their long night of hunting. Before they lie satiated in the shade of the trees for the rest of the day. After landing, a sumptuous champagne breakfast awaits you.
Later that day on our game drive we head to Karatu. On our way, a visit to a Maasai Boma is a cultural highlight of your safari and is as much a part of Tanzania as lions and elephants. The host will welcome you and greet you with the traditional jumping dances of the young warriors and the common singing of villagers. You will have an insight view into the customs and way of life of the people between mud huts and iPhones.
Overnight: Mamadunia Safari Lodge, Karatu
You must have slept well above Karatu in the Mamadunia Lodge and enjoyed an excellent breakfast. We will then say goodbye to Karatu and return to Arusha. You may have the opportunity to stroll through the city or visit the Maasai Market to browse for the last souvenirs before our guide takes you to the airport.
